Welcome to UCLA Men's Rowing — where dedication meets opportunity.
As one of the nation’s top club rowing programs, we offer student-athletes an elite training environment, fierce competition against top collegiate crews, a high-level education, and the chance to develop as both athletes and leaders.
While we actively recruit experienced oarsmen, we are always looking for athletes in Westwood who want to compete for UCLA. No prior rowing experience is required — just a strong work ethic and a commitment to the team.
Backed by an active and generous alumni network, our boathouse fosters a tight-knit, inclusive community that supports each rower’s personal and academic growth. Join us and become part of a proud tradition at a school associated with excellence in college sports. We will teach, train, and prepare you to contend for medals at the American Collegiate Rowing Association National Championships.
Throughout the long history of UCLA Men’s Rowing, the foundation of the roster has been walk-on recruits that have never touched an oar. Several walk-ons have discovered a pathway to the US National Team and represented the United States in the World Championships and the Olympic Games.

High School Athletes
UCLA Crew is a great way to continue your competitive rowing career at the collegiate level. Ideal candidates will have the desire and work ethic to be a positive contributor to our competitive program.
All incoming freshman with experience will train with the varsity squad in the fall. We still believe in the team building benefits of the Freshman class, so the focus will be on creating competitive Freshman crews. Athletes who demonstrate they can make our Varsity Eight faster will have the opportunity to compete for sets in that boat.
College transfers
In December 2018 UCLA was again ranked as the #1 college for Transfer Students in the country. We encourage junior college athletes to consider UCLA as a great way of continuing their academic and athletic careers.
Junior college athletes interested in transferring to UCLA must submit the UC Application for Undergraduate Admission and Scholarships and meet the requirements of the UCLA transfer system. Every year we take some transfer students as Walk On athletes, so no rowing experience in needed is you are motivated to work hard, and compete for UCLA.
